Some interesting things here, such as murder someone get the death penalty, didn't we have that before, yes thought so, and weren't INNOCENT people hung just to have some bent coppers confess all years later, I wouldn't trust the cops, neither would me best mate and he is a cop(traffic cop).
I'd love to know where these cushy prisons are, I've been inside 5 times, and don't regret whaty got me there for an instance, and given the same circumstances would do the same again, but I've yet to see these "perks" lifers may get a bit but not everyone.
The trouble is if you start punishing harshly you breed hate towards society/police which will make the offender worse and worse each time.
FACT you can still calim certain benefits whilst in prison, as I did every time, as well as earning money whilst in prison.
Food better than NHS, what a crock of shit, I spent 19 months in hospital in one go so know about the food, awsome really really good I'd say, prison food is shite, you have to rake the mash with your fork before you eat it, as some like to put glass in it, some piss in the tea urn etc, chips are reheated every day, we used to use ours as "weapons" throwing them at each other they were like darts !!.
I think the disparity between the rich poor which is widening doesn't help, neither do the 2 different sets of laws, those who are poor/average and all the super paid such as MP's, some should have gone to prison, why do coppers have thier own prison in/near leeds, if they've done thr crime then surely same prison as the rest.
A lot in prison shouldn't be there, surveys show nearly 1/3 have psychiatric ilnesses, yet they are punished!!, this is because of sucessive govs shutting correct facilities for them, this makes them worse.
In prison you are not able to get certain medicines, doesn't matter if your condition needs that medicine, if it's not on the list you don't get it, my own DR, DR Kalaria also is the prison DR at HMP Norwich, as well as being the sas scheme DR, so I know from him things have not changed.
I was caught by a copper throwing water at cars, I was about 11, stupid thing to do, the copper gave me a choice take me to my parents, court martial etc or wash all the cars at the police station every saturday for 4 weeks, for free,(money was donated by the car owners to charity), the difference, this was in Germany, copper said as I liked water that much he would "help me".
I've never respected cops so much saw them as friends unlike uk.
