It'll be interesting to see what the ford auto electrics mate thinks of the situation.

How do I find out if the injectors are coded to the ecu? One of the things the garage has said would work is if they swapped the head over from the old engine to the replacement one, but
a) they want to charge me an EXTRA £550 to do that
b) i don't want them swapping bits of the engine about and charging me £550 if they've just done something daft
c) if the oil burning problem was from a valve seal rather than a piston ring then they'll be bringing that problem with it - the old engine also had a little end knock as well so that's why I didn't just get the valve seals looked at.
So, if it is the injectors that's the issue, just getting them to swap those over would be a better solution. But, there's no point even doing that if they don't need to cos it'll make no difference.
