its not up to me to make vehicle legislation and enforce it
its basic knowledge
the day before you mot runs out your car could be dangerous so it could the week after it passes, its an 'on the day' check of basic roadworthyness not a gaurentee of 12months good condition
we have them because not everyone knows anything about cars or knows how to check things so it would be dangerous to let everyone drive around in cars potentially never had an mot/check/service after 30 years
but you try to tell the ministry your car had a defect 3 months after the mot and see what they say
