The standard cams are fast road cams as standard. If you are going to swap to TB's you will need new managment, not all engine managments can deal with the VVT so you may have to ditch the VVT. The problem with this engine is that the oil pump is weak. When you go down the TB route the power gains increase as you push your rev limit higher with wilder cams. The standard pump is fragile at 8000rpm as likely to let go. Even with billet oil pump ring gear they have been known to let go. Only solution is to go with a dry sump system but you looking at serious money now.
A basic TB setup should see you achieve 200bhp
Thanks. It's all or nothing then! The motor's up at 75k miles. What's likely to need to be replaced before any work, or would it be easier to get a lower miles engine to replace it ?
