On a tight budget, stick to hand polishing and buy yourself the following as well:

-Poorboys black hole glaze
-Carlack 68 Sealant
-Collinite 476s
-Poorboys Natty's Blue
-Zaino Z6
-Sonus Der Wunder drying towel
-Sonus Der Wunder polishing towel
-Sonus Der Wunder buffing towel
-Small sponge wax applicator

All available from cleanyourcar.co.uk

That's quite a shopping list, but will be worth it and once you've got that, it'll keep consumables down. Using good quality towels and applicators is as important as using good quality polishes and waxes. They'll last a long time too.
