Starting point for x-over frequency should be 80Hz i.e. bottom two octaves of the audible frequency range.

Tell us what the actual labels on the knobs are. I would expect things like:

LPF Freq
HPF Freq
X-Over Freq
Crossover Freq
Input Gain
Input Level
Volume

and possibly
EQ Freq
EQ Gain
Bass Boost Freq
Bass Boost Level

that sort of stuff. If only they actually labelled things accurately it'd make life so much easier...

As mentioned, it really doesn't matter which way it faces. If it's ported, have the port facing away from any solid barriers. That is all.
