Default Optical cables!!!!!

Fook me do they make a difference!

I bought one a while back to connect my personal MD recorder to the DVD player (TOS link > 3.5mm optical jack) so I could copy music from CDRW discs (my hifi don't play RW's, only CDR's) and the quality was better than when I was using 2x phone > 3.5mm stereo jack...

But just bought a long TOS > TOS so that I can connect the PC to my Hifi (when I get the digital soundcard installed) so in the meantime I plugged it into the PS2 and conected that to the HiFi....

Holy Crap!!!! Tried the best studio recorded CD I had in it and first played it through hifi using the analogue (phono) cables it's normally connected with, then again with the optical cable and the difference was unreal!!!

First off it's louder - a good 20-30db easily, but secondly, it is so goddam clear! Immense sound

Only problem is tho, is there is a delay. Not with the optical cable but with the analogue cables. So if you have the PS2 playing through the HiFi, and also have the TV sound on the hifi gives sound a good second or two before the TV does - same with the TV>hifi using analogue... So can't use TV volume when using optical cable as it sounds crap lol.....

Can't wait to watch a kick ass DVD on it tho - the volume and bass/treble is gonna crush everything
