L8 uses the same microprocessor and crystal as the L6. So, it it just as fast.
It's the P8 that is faster, because it has a better microprocessor. The theory is that a faster microprocessor would be more accurate. But I've found that the mapping is far more important.
What he said although L8 does has double the memory of L6!, if you do want CL, ALS etc then go L8.
