Merely going by my experience with a MSD chip, but then there's no substitute for correct mapping.
A off the shelf chip by it's very nature cannot be it's best, otherwise you/msd would not have any "extra" to get by mapping cars, or are you saying mappings not necessary as your chips are so good ?, in which case why are you mapping ?
MY experience with L6 shows me these tend to run rich, hang on that's what I said, but then I'm not an arse licker on here like some are.
