Default to much oil pressure

hi all
yes it might sound strange but it was the cause of my problem of to much oil pressure as it was blowing the seal on oil filter on start up
i fitted a series 1 oil pump to my rs as my old one had a weep and changing the seal whilst on the car is a utter headache its easier to just change it whilst off so i just decided to fit a new oil pump then i would know how old it was and miles done and that it flowed well
well fitted oil pump new belt filter sump gasket and oil started up had 105psi at cold hot idle was 25psi 50psi @ 2k revs pottering along and 70psi @4k on a test run ,parked the car up and left over night ,in the morning checked for any leaks and oil on the ground but not a drop
started the car and 2 seconds later i heard a funny noise and the oil pressure off the guage i shut down the car and had a look under the bonnet to find oil on the back of my bulk head and once i looked at the filter i see the rubber seal had popped so thought i just fit a new filter and that would be it but it did it again
so after adjusting the pressure from the oil pump i had another go and it was sorted and running 20psi at idle 40psi at 2k driving 65psi @4k 55psi @3k not driving all on hot engine
does any one know how to adjust oil pressure without using high pressure spring swop
