I'm a manager for a well known retailer and trust me, complaints from other people regarding staff will only be taken further if its very serious such as swearing at a customer etc.

IMO, the best way if she cannot get proof such as evidence provided by another colleague would be to look for another job. And fast, before they start to twist things. I know this sounds harsh but sometimes its just best to move on... and this sounds like one of those....
