from the years i've been following the tuning game, i would have thought it was standard practice to put these things on to simulate the loads you'd see in the car?

no point in running the car on the dyno to perfection, and then adding stuff to it which might cause a failure when you are seeing a % more load from the crank pulley than you were expecting and using more fuel as a reslut?
