Default High mileage Focus help.....

Hi,

I am looking at getting a 1999 Focus LX off my sister as a cheap runaround so I can save a deposit for a mortgage.

The car has 160k on the clock, and is a bit ratty exterior wise but I reckon with a little bit of TLC it could be half decent.

I had a drive of it earlier and the engine (1.8 zetec) starts on the button, and doesn't knock etc. When driving it seems smooth and pulls well from low revs.

The clutch seemed to have a pretty high biting point, that it seemed to labour slightly when pulling away - how can I tell if the clutch is slipping? I think it might be me not being used to the car?

Is there anything I should look for on a car this age/mileage?

CheeRS,

Simon
