Sorry my cock up, you are of course quite correct, I forgot this was one of the backward steps over the old silver top, ie to go mechanical lifters, but must say I prefer them!!
Yes pani k is totally correct they will need shimming, I just forgot the year of the engine was shim tappets, easy enough to do with a vernier and basic maths, but leaves you without a engine till you collect the correct(thickness) ones, you can often do swappsies, to cut down the number you need, and a lot of pug/audi/seat/vw ones the same shim, but fords normally hold a good stock, or engine place even better/cheaper, last time I needed 2 on a 1.8 diesel escort, other 6 did swappsies, they were about £3 each, can even take them out(on the escort anyway) without disturbing cam.
