xr4x4 is same dimension wise as the 4wd cossie, the 4wd xr and cossie have much thicker strut bodies than the 2wd struts, they will not interchange, unless a 2wd one is used with a spacer to make it larger diametre to fit into the hub correctly, think it's about 10mm difference, but 100% defo different.
It may be the listing says 2wd/xr4x4 and they have the same damping rates, but you specify when ordering whether it is 2wd or 4wd, and they use a different damping rate again on the 4wd cossie, thet may have listed it like that just to save space ?
The rear shocks on 4wd xr and cos are about 1/2" wider at the bottom eye fitting, but can be used in 2wd by cutting 1/4" off each end of the eye fitting tube, or fit spoacers to use a 4wd one on a 2wd car.
