You'll find heavily armed villages all over the US. I live in northern North Dakota and a conservative estimate would be 80% of homes have guns in them. I don't consider myself overly armed and I have 8 rifles, a shotgun, and 3 handguns. I was raised with guns around the house and was taught very early on to respect and be careful with them. All the weaponry in the area is not a problem; in the 135 year history of my town there has been one murder (with a knife not a gun) that I know of. Burglary is, for obvious reasons, almost unheard of.
