I would just lay some speaker cable in there flat figure of 8 type so you can use LED strip.
These are a LOT cheaper, I did this in me mum/dads kitchen, cost was £20 for 2 strips from deal extreme mostly white with a tiny hint of blue, looks ace on thiers as they have blue flint tiles, worksurfaces, can run these from ians with a resistor and a diode, or easier just but a 220-12v adaptor and plug in, last forever(100,000+ hours).
