I found Boston incredibly dull, even though I'm a bit of a history buff.

Philadelphia has the US Mint and the Liberty Bell, and I loved Washington DC.

Niagara Falls was worth seeing but the best view is from the Canadian side.

Detroit was interesting and you could easily spend a whole day or more at the Henry Ford Museum at Greenfield Village. Never made it any further west than that, though.
