John - I'd love to do it in a Porsche. Is it easy to rent them over there? If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost you per day? Is there a minimum age limit - im 22 at the moment.

bj928 - I don't fancy driving for all that distance on the interstate with not much to see. If we're going anywhere before the Westcoast, we'll fly from there to California or San Fran I think.

I think we're wanting to stop off in Washington DC or Boston (or anywhere else on the Eastcoast) to break up the long flight to the Westcoast. I hate long flights - injured my knee years ago and it begins to throb after 4-5 hours of sitting, so looking to keep flight times down as much as possible.

Anything else which is a must see on the Westcoast?
