The government have just spent a few hundred million on SPECS cameras that read your front number plate, they are not about to render them all entirely useless so a few chavs can have shitty bodykits on their cars with no plate recess
Not to mention all the police cars with ANPR, and the network of fixed ANPR cameras that most forces use.
