As much as civil litigation is a good idea ... if the defendant is "an unemployed bum" then you will be wasting your time. If he doesn't have the money or assets to satisfy and judgement then it will be be unenforcable.

You could be throwing good money after bad so to speak.

You don't need a solicitor for small claims court either, it'll only add to expenses.
