As far as 80 hours community service, although there are a number of factors that go into the mixing bowl in coming to that decision, it seems a level of punishment I would expect. I feel an appeal would fall on deaf ears, and/or be a costly exercise.

If you were lead to believe the Magistrates' would be awarding full compensation, then it is not really their role. You should persue the matter through civil courts perhaps instead of apealing. You could use the evidence of the criminal case to proove the matter and they could make him pay.

See a solicitor, all is not lost I believe
Cheers for the advice mate , i did not get a compensation form. My insurance refused to pay out due to the keys being in it , even though i was no more than 16ft away in the road talking to a delivery driver .
Will sortit when i come backoff holliday next week
