As per my previous post on this thread i changed my exsisting matrix over the weekend and took a few more pics and thought of a couple of other things that might help.

1) Before even thinking of removing the heater etc i removed the top hose on the matrix as shown.

2) I then removed the bottom hose from the matrix from the thermostat and blew down it to get any water out. Caused a bit of mess but at least it wont go in the cabin now.

3) I then remove BOTH front seats and the whole center consol just to make life easier.

Also to save getting the rear seat dirty, i covered the seat with an old curtain.

4) DRIVERS SIDE, laying on your back looking up you will see this bolt, as mentioned before its a 13mill bolt, i used a longer extension on my rachet to make life easier. Also while i was down there i disconnected all the heater pipes and the control wires.

5) Repeated the process on the PASSENGER SIDE.

6) You'll need a dumpy screwdriver to get on the top screw of the heater matrix.

7) New heater matrix.

Also if your working in your garage or workshop make sure you've get your car far enough out so you dont end up with a flooded workshop like i did.

And i know some of you may have bleed the water system before, but like me if you havent its best to either have a friend give you a hand that does or have them at the end of the phone for advise.

The best advice i can give is to bleed the system from the thermostat where the hose returns back to the header tank, also make sure that this isnt blocked cause mine was and had to soak the header in a very strong mix of limescale cleaner and then use a drill to clean it out.

Hope this sheds a little more light on what needs to be done and doesnt repeat to much on what dubs44 and Simsy has already mention.

OH ONE THING I NEARLY FORGOT THE CLAMPS THAT HOLD THE PIPES TO THE HEATER MATRIX (IF ORIG FORD) ARENT 10MIL THEY ARE 3/8's INSTEAD...

Hope this helps.
