When were the tappets last done, if they are not correwct then they can rattle really bad until oil is round the engine.

Had the similiar issue with her vti civic, had a supposed mate who knew how to do the tappets properly. Then i sent it to a honda specialist who reset the tappets again and now its fine and also runs better. Not to sure if the crv has solid lifters or not though.
