Sounds about OK mate my in car 52mm gauge reads constantly just under 100 deg around town, sits at 85-90deg on the motorway and back when we had the icy winter conditions around 80-90 and in summer climbs up to around 110-120deg on my 1.8 Zetec. They do have a tendency to run hot the Zetec engines though so don't worry. Mine is plumbed in line with the top rad hose so reading intake water temp from rad i.e. hottest part of the water system.
