Ive Been struggling for the last few days trying to get an answer to this one.
In short i have a mk4 escort ghia 5 door 1.6 cvh carb that i am going to convert to 2.0 zetec as i just broke my old mondeo 2.0 mk1 manual thus taking off/out:
the engine,
ecu & engine bay loom including the ignition receiver ring and chipped key,
main fuse box (for relays),
& fuel pump (just incase)
But also have a mk4 escort efi tank and internal pump. for a striaght bolt on tank.
my problem is as i have not took the reams of wires connecting the ignition reciever ring all the way to the ecu as i figured i would just solder them nice and short direct to the back of the ecu plug then tape the key to that which is what everyone was basically saying.
However the ring has 4 wires on it but only managed to trace 2 wires back to the ecu then was told the other 2 were a live and an earth!!!!
well which one is which and is the live a costant live or a switch live ???
or have i been lead up the garden path?
