Looking for advice on buget Zetec ecu
Good afternoon everyone. I am looking for some advice with regards to a budget ecu for a 2.0litre Zetec. The engine is to be fitted into a Westfield (ok I know its not really a Ford, but it has an awful lot of Ford its in it). I did not build it, but bought it 99% complete. The Westie was originally built with a 1600 Ford Crossflow motor but I always intended to replace this with a modern Ford 16valve motor. There are currently brand new 2.0 litre Zetecs available on Ebay for £700, and I intend to purchase one of these. I am able to do most of the plumbing and mechanics, but have no idea with the ecu. For the time being I would like to run the engine on the standard Ford fuel and ignition systams that come with these engines.
I do have some history with this, as about 10 years ago I fitted a 1600 Zetec and type9 5 sped into a MK2 Escort. A guy from Sunderland wired a much later Ford ecu and harness into the car and it ran brilliantly on the standard Ford parts. Unfortunately I have since lost touch with the guy and wondered if anyone else has experience of doing this or can point me in the right direction.
Thanks in anticipation of your help
