To find out the engine type, find it's YB number above the coolant pump pulley.

YBP or YBT: Escort (Small/Large turbo respectively)
YBG or YBJ: 4x4 Sierra (cat/non cat respectively)
YBB: 2wd Sierra Sapphire or 3 door
YBD: Sierra RS500

Provided the green cam cover's original, you'll find it'll probably be a YBG, so the number should read something like YBG1234.
