I use Philips Extreme, my dad prefers and use Osram Nightbreaker.
The main difference is the colour of the light, the extreme is very hid like in colour whereas the nightbreaker aren't quite like that but either one is massive improvment.
I had the extreme on a mk3 astra, then went HID, now took HID off and put extreme back on, as found it better.
If your lights are fed through relays, like I did to the astra then you can always link the stalk feed input direct to the dip beam wirem so dip stays on even on main beam, a free mod that makes a massive difference try it by using the flash position next time you're driving at night.
Important these go through relays though as otherwise will burn out your switches.
