i did this once on my old work sierra the bottoms of the doors rotted out, welded sheet patches over the rot and it passed.
Rotten doors would only fail if they have sharp edges sticking out.
To the question in hand if you can't weld your stuck, needs a plate seem welded all the way round over the failing corrosion.
