1958 rag top beetle. Scooby WRX power
Oh dear another resto project, still its only 3. I once had 7 hehe.
Its eiher late 57 or 58, difficult to tell as its not on the original chassis, but using certain details of the car to id it id be happy to say its 58. Chassis is 67 with IRS rear end. The body has been chopped about as it had a scooby engine in it.
So the cars a bit of a bitza if not a little confused about its personality really
Its a bit of a first for me as im normally a believer in stock or slightly modified bolt ons. Ive always dreamt of doing sometihng a bit different but never had the heart or found the right car to cut about. Luckily this one is already half way there so I dont feel bad at all!
I have big plans for this one.
Chassis is all powdercoated and Has had IRS grafted in
Firewall boxed and big hole where scooby lump sat
Front apron cut and boxed for the radiatior
Small windows, semaphores and the door catch design date it at 58
Check out the original Goldie 3 fold sunroof, aparantly these are rare, ive never paid much attention, but its a cool feature.
I havnt touched the 67 for about 5 months now. not like me, but the red 69 is nearly done. MOT next week hopefully, then I can caryy on with the 67. Hope to start on the 58rag in the summer.
Ive now changed the skoda alloys for GT's (rostyle) Bannded on the rear. pics to follow.
