look at it this way,, if you had a crash whos insurance would be paying out,, yours or the owners ?
I havent checked recently but my old insurance with Trinty Lane insured me to drive any car 3rd party (for private use) as long as it has MOT and TAX it didint need to be insured as long as i have owners consent and it wasnt used for business.
Obviously due to my business ive seen loads of policys like this and never had problem paying out when had a accident, BUT DO READ SMALLPRINT as some do require car to be insured aswell.
