With a bleed valve you still won't be able to run higher boost than the chip allows, as the engine is not mapped for it so dangerous, ECU will cut ignition etc (AKA Overboost protection) With amal it will bleed off the maximum allowed by the chip.
With a nasty bleed valve, ECU has no control over boost, so can not step in if high ACT are detected as one example, as it a totally mechanical affair, so yes stick with the amal.
In short you need a chip before you can raise boost.
