I've got an Ib5 box in my orion turbo. its the changeover year box, starter still on the front. it was a brand new crate box, i can give you a number if want, the guy has some left. my driveshafts went straight in, but i did have my lsd fitted into it.
you'll need the changeover year release bearing, as both the CVH or ZETEC wont fit. the ratio's are ok. simply ok. cruising at 30mph in 3rd the revs are abit high for my liking but acceptable, same at 70mph in 5th. revs are 3300-3400 roughly. to me that seems abit high, but acceptable. 1st to 4th are great for acceleration but 5th seems to just die. you get very little acceleration from it, at approx 110 mph from 4th to 5th the car struggles to gain much more speed at all, let alone as quickly. having said that though it will accelerate right off the clock with the revs reaching about 5700 at the time, on an airfield at the time.
but the bearing casings are bigger than the BC box and it hasn't shown so much as a whine in 9 months now, i've had a few blasts in it

i'd recommend one 100%. its an easy box to live with, but put 75w/90 oil in, it stops sticky gears when its cold. if you do alot of motorway driving though get some diesel gears put in it. with an LSD.
