This was my last BDA Turbo engine after 10 yrs of drag racing them. The low graph,221NM 210 HP was with the std BDA camshafts. The second graph (267HP 410NM) was achieved with BD3 cams set at 110 and 114 deg. lobe centers. The boost was set at 1.5 bar(blown through to Dellorto siddies). The car actually started to wheelspin at 410 nm of torque with two adults standing in the boot, the reason for the sudden drop in torque. The car pulled strong up to 8500 rpm and the rev. limiter kicked in at 9000 rpm.Dyno testing was performed at KAR Kempton Park.
1/4 Mile times was constant at 12.7 sec. with street rubber and best 1/4 mile speed of 187 km/h.The reason for changing to the Pinto engine was that the 1600 Kent block (AX P/N) could not handle more power. The last sub. assy destroyed itself by seperating the block in half just above the main bearings, and it destroyed the cross member and steering rack. The cranck ended up in five pieces under the car with all main bearing caps, conrods still attached to pieces of the block.I was a sh#*t expensive failure.$$$$$$$$.It took me 2yrs to build and replace the BDA with the Pinto turbo.
