Hi mates! First of all excuse my English.
I follow you since a lot of time but this is the first time I decide to write. My name is Pablo, Iīm from Spain and I have two Fords, a Escort mk3 1.3L from 1983, pre mods, and a Orion 1.6i Ghia from 1988... pre mods.
Two years ago I treated the Escort against rust, changed the cam, tappets, and did everything to make it come back to a concours original status. Anyway itīs very hard to get it in these old => (sometimes) fussy cars. I have it since 2002 and has 200000 kms (about 125000 miles). This car has been all its life very very very well looked after. Pics...
This first is with the XR3i I had:
I have the Orion since November ī09, I bought it and selled the black XR3i (the rear arches were rusting and had covered over 220000 miles).
This Orion has covered 78000 kms (48000 miles). The engine is in an outstanding condition and the body has no rust anywhere. It comes from a non-smoker old man, every revision passed in the Ford dealer. The car has electric windows, central locking and air conditioner.
I want to upgrade some facts with your excellent "know-how" lol as much as I could being inside the close and stupid spanish law.
This is how I bought it:
And this is now. Protected to rust, RST wheels painted in very dark metallic grey, Konis, -25 mm lowering springs and front RST brakes. Full maintenance of the motor, filters, belts and stem seals included. 5w40 synthetic oil, no burning on about 1000 miles I have run with it. SUPERB.
Std interior, could do up with a more detailed clean but now is bad to do it:
I want to find a white original spoiler and grind a bit the trailing edge, refilling it with carbon fabric. I work every day with carbon fiber, so I will buy two spoilers to try... lol I think it can give the car a very nice and exclusive touch.
Iīd like to fit the rear Sierra discs, but 253 mm cause they will be more balanced with the front 260s. I think the conversion plate and spacers will fit, but I donīt know at all...
And out Ford limits Iīm very proud to have a std Volvo 850 GLT, from the first series in 1992. Redone, in near new condition, it can have covered more than 250000 miles. It gives me everything the Orion canīt. Itīs a "highway car", very confortable, reliable and safe. This is the best car I have had. Some of you have 850īs too, but a "bit" modded... nice!
At the Stelvio Pass, Italy, last summer.
The two machines...
And the interior:
Hope you like them!!!!!
Greetings from Spain!
