Yes mate, should work fine. The device will show up on Music, Photo's and videos. Just open it by highlighting it and pressing "X". If that doesn't work press triangle, display all and that will open it

I use a 16GB USB stick like this and it works very well. I copy all videos off my PC and play them through this on the PS3
