as to which is "best" is very much down to personal taste and passion..
the big benefit of 4wd is you never have to worry about approaching the oncoming traffic looking through the side window when you're not expecting it

the novelty of the occasional tail-out action soon wears off when it starts doing it on occasions when you weren't expecting it...
