I was going to use a MPS 2.3 turbo in my mk2, (2.3 duratec turbo)
but i wanted to go N/A i have been told by numerous people not to convert it to N/A because the crank is too heavy etc and there are no N/A cams available for the head. so either i put a duratec N/A head on and have pistons made, or change crank rods and pistons. ??

if you want to stay with the turbo option, go for a MPS engine
260 bhp standard same mountings as a duratec conversion rwd parts off the shelf. no turbo lag brilliant engine. bomb proof.
Steel crank and rods as standard, bigger small ends for strength, thicker and cross drilled cooling walls, head is also cross drilled between valves to get rid of heat. bearings will go upto 500 bhp.
If you want some pics of engine mounting area etc give me a shout.
