The ONLY reason why the price of Blue Ray players has hit an all time low is due to the fact that the system firmware cannot be updated. There will come a time where all they can do is play the film, the special features will be useless, this is due to the overwhelming demand for better quality video/audio and the way the Blue Rays are encoded now.

The PS3 firmware however is updateable, which there fore supports the argument that is worth buying the PS3 as a Blue Ray player alone (It also has an official DivX licence), that with the combined knowledge that the PS3 is also a very good media center for streaming 1080p videos, music, photos, etc. It also has a very easy to use but fully functional internet browser along with a decent sized hard drive.

For what I use it for it more than meets my expectations, therefore my personal opinion is that the PS3 is better for me and my needs.

Anybody who says Xbox is better than PS3 or visa versa is a fool. It's all down to personal preference at the end of the day

If I had my own place I'd have both, Xbox upstairs, PS3 downstairs.
