Yes the engines if the same will swap over, so long as both non turbo.
The heater could be partially blocked, or more likely a dud stat, so if swapping engines just put a new one in anyway, it would be quicker swappings heads than engines, and fitting 2 new belts at same time, most ignore the pump belt, until it snaps and jams up in the cam belt next to it!!
You may want to check the valve clearances at the same time, easy to do on bench then do swappsies but any you need are only around £3 each anyway.
I don't know for certain if they have one of the dodgy water valves like some other fords, but suspect not, just follow the pipes through the bulkhead to see if there is avalve anywhere though I doubt it on this engine.
