they don't need tuning at all, that's the beauty of them. there's no messing about with frequencies and stuff, they just choose the station from a list (and then save to presets or whatever) so perfect for the older person. probably worth looking for one with a big clear display though and as few knobs as possible. maybe a classic look roberts?
