I have a 98 Escort 1.6 Si and have just noticed before the MOT is due that the rubber boot on the wishbone ball joint has split, this wishbone is in good condition apart from the boot as it was only fitted last year can anyone tell me if this is a MOT failure and if it is does anyone know a way around this problem apart from replacing the whole wishbone.

Can I also check would my car get through the MOT if I fibre glassed and undersealed a hole in my off side sill just under the drivers door as a patch up option before i get chance to replace the whole sill. I am not sure if this is allowed.

Any help would be much appreciated.
