i am having problems with a burton pump in my pinto.
fresh engine built, fitted last weekend.
on initial start up, after spinning up with drill through dizzy drive, recorded 160psi briefly before it blew a core plug out from behind the timing cover.
fixed this, and re-started with a different gauge. blew seal off oil filter and deposited oil on drive.
was ticking over at 105psi.
removed sump/cross member to get at pump. refitted old pump and everything was fine. (70psi at revs)
returned pump to burtons for a refund. should not be a problem, but i dont think they are going to repay me for sump gasket, oil filter, 4 litre of oil and 6 hrs labour, which i have asked them for. still waiting to hear back.

have since heard of a few other people having problems too with burton pumps.

update.----
heard back from burtons today.
very apologetic. refunding me for pump and sump gasket.
sending me 4 litre of oil and a filter, for next oil change.
adding a trade discount to my account to compensate for the labour.
