Be thankful your intake is near the top of the engine bay, in my long arm induction kit on the focus it is sitting behind the NSF fog light about a 12 inches off the floor!!! Needless to say it isn't totally open to the elements I've put a splash guard directly underneath it covering it and also on the front lower grille to stop oncoming water spray from cars in front. A tiny bit of moisture isn't that bad only large amounts of standing water and large solid water droplets are bad. Tiny bits of moisture help lower intake charge temps (think aquamist)
