anyone ever had issues whilst out in heavy rain with car holding back at high boost

have a feeling it may just have been cos my cone filter was getting soaked and drawing water through
as it picks up to around 22 psi it makes all i can describe as a BRRRR BRRRR BRRRR noise and holds back sort of like a stutter or as if someone turned ignition off ????

checked plugs ,leads ,turbo etc and all seems ok ,also checked all the gaps are correct phase,crank and also plug gapping and all fine
fuel pressure is good 3.5 with vac pipe off

this leads me to think it maybe just got damp with heavy rain as was a long motorway jog and very wet and lots of spray too!!!
currently just letting it dry out for a bit but just curious if evr happened to anyone else
car ran fine on way up were i was going then started playing up on way back ???
