My friends kids had a laptop through a school education scheme, Cause they normally use them in the school they usually have proxy server settings,

In internet explorer go to tools - internet options - connections - lan settings

if use a proxy server is ticked untick this click ok to go back out of menu

should work

they would have to reenable this to use at school again
