1996 300tdi Defender 110 Hi-capacity (Ex- EDF energy)
For sale is my trusty landrover which I’ve owned for the past 4.5 years.
It has been used daily as my work vehicle and has proved invaluable in its use.
As far as I can see this is the only ex EDF for sale in the country, so be quick.
I am the second owner; prior to this it was owned buy EDF energy. It is to their standard fleet commission specification, built at Solihull Special Vehicles Division.

It is finished in Bonnati Grey (the Landover tombrader colour, original colour was white) with matt black Webbers. Body work is in great condition for age and mileage considering its has been a daily work vehicle for 14 odd years, and is better than can be expected considering.
Interior is clean and tidy, drivers seat is a little worn but is covered with a waterproof seat cover anyway. There is also a Sony radio and CD player with Sony 6x9 speakers.
Body has been looked after very well, EDF kept it very clean and I too have washed it every week. The bulkhead is rock solid and good as new, and as you know the rest is aluminium.
The rear load space is 2m or 2.55m with the tailgate in the half way position.
4 feet between the wheel arches which allows a pallet to be loaded with 2” clearance each side.
The chassis is also in great shape and is easily ready for another 14 years of service. I have kept it clean, and had planned to waxoil it this winter, but am leaving it so you can see for you self how good it is as there’s nothing to hide.
Also comes with 3 seats and included is a centre cubby box if required.
Fully adjustable, heavy-duty tow pack with both ball and eye hitches. Included are 2 spare number plates for towing, and the standard high lift jack.
It has done 180k, but anyone who knows 300tdis, will know they are good for at least 300k+. The 2.5 litre turbo engine still pulls strong, and maintains performance even under heavy towing. Gearbox is smooth and synchromesh is spot on in both high and low drive boxes.
Being an EDF truck for 9 years, it was well serviced and parts repaired/replaced at no expense spared. Since my ownership I have serviced it every 5000 miles, using only genuine or high quality pattern parts. Including landrovers MT45 and R380 transmission and diff oils. And the correct engine oils for time of year. So if anything this truck has been over serviced!
Timing belt was changed at 150k including the recall pump conversion kit, crankshaft oil seals, tensioner and idler, crankshaft gear and wood rough keys.
So cam belt is not due until 210k which is 30k miles away
Also over the years it has had the usual disks and pads, propshafts, new headertank and numerous other service and suspension items
The main selling points are the winch and Hiab. The winch is a Ramsey 8000, which will pull a dead weight of 3630kg. The wonder lead is 18 feet so can be operated from cab or a safe distance if working externally.
The Hiab is a 007. Again on a wonder lead and can lift legally 770kg. But I have lifted a ton bag with it in the past with no problems. Also handy for changing your mates engnies and gear boxes!
Included with the service manual and handbook are the data on the Hiab and winch, including operating instructions, exploded diagrams and part numbers.
It weighs in at 2200kg (with a full tank of fuel and driver)
Maximum gross is 3.5 tons, which gives you a payload of 1.3 ton.
Max towing weight is 3500kg (which is way higher than other 4x4’s)
I’m really sad about selling this truck, as I thought I would always keep it. But
it is a business vehicle and my work requirements have now changed.
