James, i don't think you get the point of the throttle linkage? In my opinion it is even more important when you have upgraded the performance of your cossie.

Unless you have a mappable fly by wire throttle you will not be able to compensate for removing in the mapping a great deal.

The throttle linkage opens your throttle plate in a non linear fasion giving you greater resolution at small throttle positions. A very important thing if you are trying to drive a tuned cosworth anywhere near the edge.
