Surely at MSD if you come across a part on a car that does an important job and it is in poor shape you would replace it or recondition it rather than simply remove it and make do without?

You are right. But would you not agree that if the bracket was up to the job (as some are) it would be wiser to keep the throttle linkage as it performs an important job?
